In the 1851 census, William Comper(b.1814, Pulborough, Sussex) was married to Ellen (b.1811, West Wittering) and lived in Highfield, working as a Coachmaker journeyman. They had 2 children, Sarah (b.1847) and Henry b.1849).

In 1861, Ann Eleanor Comper (b.1813, West Wittering) was a widow living in Pulborough, Sussex. She worked as a housekeeper to a retired farmer who had two other servants.

In 1871, Ann Eleanor Comper was at her brother-in-laws home, John Leach Baron and his wife (her sister) Louisa. John was a retired clerk living at 2 York Place, Northam Road, St Marys, Southampton. Ann was receiving income as an annuitant.
