Marriage recorded for George Weeks Doling to Lucy Lapham, Apr-Jun 1842, Southampton, Vol 7, page 231.
In the 1851 census, George Weeks Doling (b.1821, Romsey) was living in Highfield with his wife Lucy (b.1825, Upton Gray). George worked as a Plumber and Painter journeyman. He had an adopted son, George Dore (b.1845) who was a scholar. They had one servant.

In the 1851 and 1853 Post Office Street Directories ofr the neighbouring areas of Southampton, G. Doling was listed as a painter, living in Highfield.
In the 1861 census the family were recorded as Dowling. They lived at 1, Inn. (Inner?) Belmont Place, South Stoneham. George worked as a painter. They now had two children, George Dore and Lucy Doling (b.1854). Lodging with them was a clergyman, Arther Barnett.
