In the 1861 census, a James Dyer(b.1823, Isle of Wight) and his wife, Mary (b.1823, Southampton) lived in South Stoneham (address illegible). He worked as a carpenter. 5 children lived with them, James John (b.1848), William Henry (b.1851), Mary Elizabeth (b.1846), Fanny W (b.1855) and Isabel (b.1858).
