(b.1856, Pertwood, Wiltshire). He had 3 siblings; Lucy A. (b.1886, Yorkshire), Eleanor M. (b.1888, Yorkshire) and Walter E. (b.1891, Yorkshire).

George was a Pioneer or Sapper (service numbers 333150 and WR/508254) with the 12th Port Construction Company, Inland Water Transport Battalion of the Royal Engineers. He received the Victory and British Medals.
Commonwealth War Graves Commission records show that he died on Armistace Day, 11th November 1918, and is remembered at ST. SEVER CEMETERY EXTENSION, ROUEN, grave reference S. II. GG. 21.
His parents were Herbert and Sarah Longster, of Stile Cottage, Burgess St., Bassett, Southampton.
