Boswell Middleton (Snr)
Boswell Middleton (snr.) was a barrister and the Advocate-General for Jamaica, living there for over 25 years. He died of cholera during an epidemic, May 16th 1854 and his death was reported in ‘Jamaica Intelligence’ and the New York Times on June 12th, 1854.
He was buried at Spanish Town and the area of Middleton is named after him, as the first owner. In the Almanac of 1840, he is shown as owning 196 acres at St Catherine.

ISLAND, WHO DIED HERE, DURING THE GREAT CHOLERA EPIDEMIC, ON THE l6th DAY OF MAY 1854 .... AN ABLE & SUCCESSFUL MEMBER- OF THE BAR; AND ONE OF THE MOST GENEROUS AND INDEPENDENT MEN OF HIS TIME.
