Below are old photographs of the church kindly provided by Highfield Church.
Taken after the north extension of 1855, the photograph shows the perimeter bounded by a fence (the wall was completed in 1869).
The buildings to the rear are the school.
This shows Highfield from Highfield Lane, towards Portswood. It was taken after 1883 as the houses on the right do not appear on OS maps of that date. The ivy on the tower reaches almost the same point as the photograph below.
The second extension, of the east end of the church was completed in 1878. This also clearly shows how narrow Highfield Lane was as it goes off between the trees to the left of the photograph.
